Cancer Care

In 2001 Mr N had been suffering leg pains, had a bone scan and was told he had a non-malignant condition. Further tests revealed nothing untoward until an accidental broken leg revealed an aggressive bone tumour in the left thigh. Despite prompt surgery an amputation was the end result. The court awarded him £119,000.

Dental Case

A six year old boy received £1,800 because his dentist failed to diagnose decay to three teeth which then had to be extracted under general anaesthetic when he was five.

Retained Equipment

After an appendix operation Mrs L continued to suffer with unexplained abdominal pain, which lasted for nearly a year until a 3cm piece of plastic medical equipment was removed through surgery. The result was compensation of £12,000 plus a further £7,000 for financial loss.

Delay in Diagnosis

Mr Y had a knee replacement operation in 2003 at which an artery was unfortunately damaged by accident. This was not recognised for several weeks so the condition worsened leading to a permanent leg injury. This was settled with a payment of £33,000.
