How can Eaton Smith help you?

Have you got a claim?
If you would like to find out whether you have got a claim in the Employment Tribunal but would like to know more before you start that claim (and pay the Employment Tribunal fee), or if you have started a claim and would like some support, please contact our team to make an appointment in our New Enquiry Clinic using the contact form. (Please see the end of this section for details).

Have you lost your job?
If you’ve been sacked for something that you didn’t do or dismissed and you don’t think it’s fair, we can advise you on what your options are – including whether or not you have a claim for unfair dismissal and what the value of that claim might be. To make an appointment in our New Enquiry Clinic, please contact our team using the contact form.

Are you at risk of redundancy?
If you are worried that you might be made redundant we may be able to help you. We can advise you of what your rights are and how to get the best possible outcome for you. To make an appointment in our New Enquiry Clinic, please contact our team using the contact form.

Have you got a bad disciplinary record?
If you have been given a disciplinary sanction (such as a verbal warning, written warning, final written warning, unpaid suspension or demotion) and you don’t think it’s fair, we can advise you on what your options are. To make an appointment in our New Enquiry Clinic, please contact our team using the contact form.

Are you owed money?
If you believe that your employer owes you wages, overtime pay, holiday pay, sick pay, notice pay, bonus pay or commission, we can advise you on your options – including the process for making a claim for breach of contract or unlawful deductions from wages. To make an appointment in our New Enquiry Clinic, please contact our team using the contact form.

Do you have restrictive covenants?
A restrictive covenant is a clause in your contract of employment or employee handbook that stops you from working for a competitor of your employer or from soliciting or poaching customers of your employer after you leave. If you have restrictive covenants and are worried about whether it will stop you from finding work, we can advise you on whether the restrictive covenants are lawful and whether they can be enforced against you. We can also help you to re-negotiate the restrictive covenants as part of a termination package. To make an appointment in our New Enquiry Clinic, please contact our team using the contact form.

Have you been bullied?
If you have been, or are being, bullied at work then we may be able to help you. Bullying can take different forms and might include harassment, discrimination (because of your sex, colour, race, nationality, religion, belief, sexual orientation, disability or age), victimisation, intimidation (such as threatening or aggressive behaviour) or humiliation (such as belittling or exclusion). We can advise you on your options and help you to approach your employer or to make a claim. To make an appointment in our New Enquiry Clinic, please contact our team using the contact form.

Do you have a disability?
If you are disabled your employer has additional responsibilities to help make sure that your disability doesn’t mean that you are disadvantaged. If you believe that you have been badly treated or overlooked as a result of your disability or you are worried that your job is at risk as a result of your disability or time off work, you may have been discriminated against. We can advise you on your options and help you to approach your employer or to make a claim. To make an appointment in our New Enquiry Clinic, please contact our team using the contact form.

New Enquiry Clinic

We know that you need to find out about your legal rights and understand your options before you can decide whether to incur the costs of hiring a solicitor.

We operate a clinic for new enquiries, which allows for an appointment of up to half an hour for a fixed fee of £100 (inclusive of VAT and charges). This arrangement is suitable for dealing with initial enquiries about your employment if you have not used our firm before and would like to find out more about your legal rights and how we might be able to help you. If, as a result, you would like on-going advice and support, or representation in Court or Employment Tribunal proceedings, we would be happy to provide this and will discuss likely costs with you before taking any further action.

To find out more and to book an appointment, please contact our team using the contact form or telephone 01484 821300.

Supporting businesses throughout Yorkshire, the UK and internationally; Eaton Smith's highly regarded Business Services Team advises on starting-out through to high profile corporate and international transactions, helping businesses with trading agreements, internet trading, business structures, reorganisations, joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, disposals, intellectual property, sports law, employment law, property, debt collection and disputes. One of our commercial clients has this to say about us:

"We were buying a large private company, who left us with a rather unreasonable timescale. I was therefore deeply impressed with the way you guys picked up the challenge and ran with it like the true professionals you are.

I think I heard a comment from the vendors about 'provincial solicitors' once at the beginning of the matter. I never heard it again. I can sincerely and honestly say, having had some experience of big city solicitors in the past, that I could not conceive how any other firm would have dealt with this in the same expert, expedient and insanely short timescale that you did. This is not flannel – it is a fact and I am humbled by the way you guys responded and looked after my interests and those of my company"

If you need a solicitor, you want to be confident that your interests are properly looked after. Our teams of legal professionals have an extensive range of skills and experience to offer our clients, who also enjoy the added benefit of dealing with a firm that is large enough to provide specialists in the many areas of legal issues that we cover including; family matters, employment problems, house purchases and sales, wills, crime and road traffic offences, personal injury, medical negligence and dispute resolution.
